Seeds are the SkillSeeds currency. They can be used to watch and upload lessons. You start with free daily Seeds and can earn and/or purchase more as you learn and create.

Yes – you can purchase optional Seed Packets to unlock or upload more lessons. This supports the platform and helps keep SkillSeeds ad-free and fair.

Yes – each user is gifted free Seeds, which replenish every 24 hours. This means you never have to pay to learn or create, but additional Seed Packets are available for purchase if you want to learn or upload more lessons and so maximize your earning potential.

Each user has a maximum of 10 free seeds available at any time. Free seeds are topped up to 10 once every 24 hours, so for example:

• You spend 8 free seeds uploading a video and leave your remaining 2 free seeds unused. 8 more free seeds are added to your account at the next top up point to once again give you 10 free seeds to spend during the next 24-hour period.
• You spend 8 free seeds uploading a lesson and 2 watching a lesson. 10 more free seeds are added to your account at the next top up point to once again give you 10 free seeds to spend during the next 24-hour period.
• If all 10 free seeds are unspent they roll-over to be used in the next 24-hour period.

By purchasing additional seeds you will be able to upload and view more content. This will enable you to reach the payout threshold much faster and so earn more. The SkillSeeds economic model makes it easy for users who create high quality content and actively engage on the platform to quickly make good returns on any investment they make on the platform by buying seeds.

Free Seeds are gifted by SkillSeeds to help users keep learning and creating. Paid Seeds are purchased through optional Seed Packets. Earned Seeds are rewards received through activity on the platform, such as creating content that other users unlock and rate.

Free Seeds are designed to encourage learning and exploration inside SkillSeeds. Keeping them non-transferable helps protect the Seed economy, prevent abuse, and keep the platform fair for learners, creators and guardians.

Yes. Seed purchases are processed securely through Stripe. You can view purchase details in your SkillSeeds wallet, and Stripe may also provide a payment receipt for completed purchases.

Yes! All users are actively encouraged to both create and consume content.

Anything that helps others learn – from practical skills to creative crafts, academic education to corporate training, mindfulness to life hacks – all types of teaching are welcome. Our only stipulation is that each lesson should be short (5 minutes or under), focused, original, and law-abiding.

Publishing costs help encourage thoughtful, high-quality uploads and reduce spam. SkillSeeds is designed to reward meaningful teaching and useful learning, rather than endless posting for attention.

Yes. Creators can create individual SkillSeeds and group related lessons into courses, helping learners follow a more structured path through a topic or skill.

Yes. Creators can set the Seed unlock price of their published SkillSeeds and courses depending on their goals – whether that means building reputation, growing an audience, testing ideas, increasing accessibility, maximising reach, or increasing long-term earnings.

Yes. Creators can update the unlock price of published SkillSeeds and courses over time. This gives creators flexibility to experiment, respond to learner demand, reward loyal audiences, run lower-cost growth strategies, or gradually increase pricing as their reputation and content library grow.

Because SkillSeeds are designed for long-term discovery rather than short-lived viral trends, creators can evolve their pricing strategy naturally as their garden grows.

No. SkillSeeds is designed to support creators – not lock them in. Creators retain ownership of their content and are free to share, repurpose, and grow their educational libraries across multiple platforms, audiences, and communities.

This means you can use SkillSeeds alongside your existing website, social channels, courses, coaching, books, newsletters, or other creative and educational work.

Yes. Free SkillSeeds and courses can help creators grow visibility, ratings, trust, and learner engagement without financial risk. Publishing free or low-cost content can be a deliberate strategy for building reputation, expanding reach, and developing a long-term educational library.

A managed learner account is an account overseen by a guardian. It allows learners to access SkillSeeds with extra support, age-appropriate controls, and guardian involvement where needed.

Managed learners cannot purchase Seeds directly. Guardians can buy Seeds for managed learners and help oversee their access to learning content.

Yes. SkillSeeds includes guardian tools designed to help manage learner access, including age-range controls and approval requests where appropriate.

Where progress permissions are enabled, guardians can view learning activity such as unlocked lessons, progress status and Seeds spent for managed learners.

Yes. SkillSeeds is designed to be a safer, more intentional learning space. Content must be original, lawful and focused on helping others learn. Users are expected to follow platform rules and community standards. Content and user profiles that don’t meet our standards may be removed.

There is a ‘Report’ option on every SkillSeed, Course and User Profile. If you see content or behaviour that concerns you, please use this option to flag the content so it can be reviewed by our moderators.

SkillSeeds is currently fully funded through the optional purchase of Seed Packets. Users who choose to buy extra Seeds are able to unlock more lessons, publish more content, and enhance their learning and/or earning potential.

These purchases help us maintain the platform, support creators, fund new features, and keep SkillSeeds completely free from ads, algorithms, and engagement traps.

In short: SkillSeeds grows through its community – not through advertising or attention-driven algorithms.

This may happen if you do not have enough Seeds, if the content is outside a managed learner’s approved age range, or if there is a temporary connection or account issue. Check your Seed balance and try again, or contact support if the issue continues.

Video and audio uploads may need a little time to process before previews and thumbnails are ready. If processing takes unusually long, please check back shortly or contact support.
